your brand is more than just a logo

A logo is only one piece of your brand. Here are the five building blocks that shape how people see, remember and feel about your business.

When most people hear “brand”, they think of a logo. A logo matters, but it’s only one part of the picture. Your brand is the whole experience people have with your business: what they see, what they read, and how it makes them feel.

When those pieces work together, your business becomes easier to recognise, easier to trust and easier to choose. Here are the five building blocks of a strong brand, with examples from two brands we’ve worked with, Styl Design and Brain Hub.

logo

Your logo is the visual symbol of your brand. It should be recognisable, simple and memorable.

A good logo doesn’t need to explain everything you do. Its job is to be instantly recognisable, whether it’s on a shopfront, a social post or a tiny browser tab. Styl Design’s logo is bold and playful, with a tilted shape that feels modern and design-led. Brain Hub’s uses a dotted spiral that hints at the brain and connection, paired with the tagline “Changing lives through neuroplasticity”.

colours

Brand colours create mood and consistency. They shape how people feel about you, often before they’ve read a single word.

Styl Design uses warm coral and soft peach, grounded by charcoal and sage, for a palette that feels stylish and inviting. Brain Hub pairs a confident orange with a strong blue, blending the two in gradients that feel energetic and hopeful. Used consistently, colours become a shortcut to recognition.

typography

Fonts influence tone. They can feel serious, playful, modern or classic, so typography matters more than most people think.

Styl Design uses Montserrat, ExtraBold for headlines and Regular for body text, which gives it a clean, contemporary feel. Brain Hub uses Helvetica Neue Extended, with a lighter weight for supporting text, for a look that’s clear, open and professional. Choosing two or three fonts and sticking to them keeps everything you create looking like it belongs together.

voice and tone

Your words are your personality. Voice and tone keep your messaging consistent everywhere, from your website to your emails to your social captions.

Styl Design speaks with confidence and a bit of flair: “Be the envy of all your guests. Upgrade your kitchen with a sink that turns heads!” Brain Hub is warm and encouraging: “Improving your life with better brain function.” Different voices, each one right for its audience.

imagery and style

Photography, graphics and icons tell your story visually, and consistency builds recognition.

Styl Design’s imagery is aspirational and lifestyle-driven: its products are styled in beautiful settings, like a sink set up on the beach for a summer gathering. Brain Hub’s photography is real and personal, showing practitioners and clients together in the clinic, which builds trust and makes the experience feel approachable.

bringing it all together

A strong brand isn’t one element on its own. It’s all of these working together, consistently, everywhere your customers find you. When your logo, colours, fonts, words and imagery all tell the same story, people start to recognise you, remember you and trust you.
